The Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival was awarded a state South Australian Community Achievement Award, which was presented at the Hilton Hotel Ballroom in Adelaide on Friday 25th November 2016.
The Arts Festival won the Junction Australia Connecting Communities Award and collected a trophy and $2,000 prize money.
This Award recognises grass-roots, ‘real life’ initiatives (local community groups or not-for-profits) that demonstrate genuine involvement, long-term value and add to the life of their community.
The Gala Presentation Dinner was attended by over 400 people from all around the State.
Our President Rhett McDonald accepted the award and said, “I want to pay tribute to each and every committee person that has come before and will continue to make our Festival worthy of its place. It’s a real credit to involve all facets of community, schools, business, individuals, artists, social groups, service clubs that are all full of character and contribution to make Penola and Coonawarra such a thriving community.”
He went on to say “this award belongs to the Penola and Coonawarra community just as much as it does to the Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival.”
The Award will be on display at the Penola Visitor Information Centre after the 14th December 2016.
