Planning for the 2015 Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival is well underway, with festival event entries now being sought for inclusion in its official program.
The 2015 Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival will be held from Thursday May 21 to Sunday May 24.
The Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival is the only festival of its type in the Limestone Coast. It attracts audiences from across South Australia and interstate and offers a variety of exhibitions, workshops, theatre productions and musical events catering to a wide audience.
In 2014, more than 17 live performances, 29 exhibitions and 11 workshops were held throughout Penola and Coonawarra, many of them hosted by wineries, businesses and individuals. These events form the mainstay of the popular arts festival, a highly anticipated event on the regional arts festival calendar.
Individuals, wineries and other businesses who would like to host an event are encouraged to now submit their event entry for inclusion in the four day festival in May next year. These could include live performances, exhibitions, workshops, competitions, food or children and teen -related activities, to provide a good cross–section of events that will appeal to a wide audience.
The Arts Festival program – set to be launched in February 2015 – is distributed widely throughout Visitor Information Centres, accommodation and other tourism attractions in the Limestone Coast and Western Victoria. It is also listed on the 2015 Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival website and promoted through traditional and social media.
The Festival Committee will once again present a Co-Opera performance – this time a new touring production of ‘Cosi Fan Tutte’ which is set to be one of the major drawcards of the Festival. Held in Penola’s Rymill Hall, the relaxed Cabaret event offers a fun night of entertainment in Co-Opera’s uniquely vivacious and irreverent style.
The perennially popular Children’s Program will again offer a refined range of workshops, art and craft activities and events aimed at both young children and early teens, the majority being at no cost to audiences.
Festival Event Entry forms are available on the 2015 Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival website at www.artsfestival.com.au, or by contacting the Secretary Helen Edwards on [email protected].
Entries must be received by February 6 to guarantee a spot in the official program. Details should include a title and description of the event, its location, date and time, and cost. Inclusion in the program is free.
