WRITERS’ FESTIVAL WITH MANAL YOUNUS

Manal Younus is a published young author who uses words and poetry to share stories and build connections with young people. Manal participated in the 2017 Arts Festival, running workshops during the weekend. She is back again this year, working with students from all three Penola schools to grow as storytellers, authors and creators of the spoken word! She will be a "writer in residence" in the week leading up to the festival. Her work with the students will be celebrated in the Park on Sunday, with a "Writer's Festival". Student's work will be on display as well as some live performances! Artist blacksmith Bruce Kennewell will be going at it with hammer & tongs turning scrap iron into beautifully hand wrought works of art. His forge is 90 years old, the Peter Wright anvil was made 120 years ago, the process dates to the iron age. Watch it being made then take home something that will last. Sales on site.

Surfers have deep connection with the environment and climate, like wine producers, they read nature as it impacts their mood and life. This amazing show brings together film, music and food from the ocean. HEADLAND performs live music to accompany super8 SURF-film shot around Lennox and Byron in the 1970's.
